        Whas UP?

WhasUp?

Here is the place that is "kind of" current. Things that are happening to me professionally as a musician, educator, composer, arranger, producer, etc.

Most of this stuff will change on a semi-regular bassis and may or may not make it back on the site. Soooo, check regularly and see whasup.

Band stuff: We finished shooting concert video footage for four of our songs -

1. Bite My Tongue
2. Buried
3. I Want It All
4. Spark

We are in the throw's of an image change...You will love the look. Brian went with black hair, I went with white, Jon went completely bald, and Eric went...well it is a surprise.

We are moving into a new phase and are looking forward to all of the cool stuff that will happen shortly.

Stuff from the first ever "Bass Talk with Abe and Lane" ...

About Bass Talk Live - http://www.basstalkradio.com/

Calling all Bass Players! Welcome to Bass Talk with Abe & Lane™, the greatest Bass Hang EVER!

We broadcast on
ReailtyRadio.biz every Sunday evening, from 6-10p.m. central time. Spread the word, y'all, 'cause this is going to be a flat-out blast!

So . . . what do we mean by "coolest bass hang ever"? Well, basically, Abe and Lane - with the technical help of Hayden James (CTO, Darenden Enterprises) - are going to hang out in the studio with several friends, and call a bunch of other friends. And they're all going to talk about stuff . . . maybe even bass! LOL...

Actually, they'll talk a lot about bass -- how to play it, take care of it, amplify it, make a living at it, and much more. But they'll also talk about life in general, on and off the road, including road stories, hobbies, favorite places, and whether Angus or Malcolm Young is the best guitarist in AC/DC and why. For instance:

Our first
show featured Bass Master and Father of Metal Funk TM Stevens, who was kind enough to call in while driving to a Birthday celebration. OK, that right there is worth the price of admission, you know? (Uh, we're free, by the way.) I mean, come on, we're talking the cat who can stand tall behind everyone from James Brown to Steve Vai. . . and has shown us all how to blend styles to create a unique voice that no one can mimic. We're talking Living Legend, OK?

But then, we also had The Snow Owl, Juan Garcia-Herreros, drop in via Skype from Vienna, Austria, Rev Jones (of Black Symphony, Steelheart and a bunch of others) called from backstage at a Geroge Thoroughgood concert, and Uriah Duffy called while taking a break between work with Whitesnake, Flametal, Lyrics Born, etc..

Then, there were also Craig Murray from Sacramento to talk a bit about his "Rock School" Digital Multimedia program at Rio Linda High School, and Dennis Michaels calling in from somewhere in Deleware, after playing a gig opening up for a fireworks show, calling in to rant about in-flight peanuts for ten minutes! (It was a riot; you had to be there.) Roy Vogt and Sean O'Bryan Smith, both incredibly talented solo bassists and both columnists for Eden's School of Music, as well as John Billings, who, when taking time off from the comedy stage, tours with the Disco Queen herself, Donna Summer. David "Eden" Nordschow, founder and Chief Propellerhead of Eden Electronics (major sponsor) gave us a call while waiting for the grill to heat up so he could burn some chicken. The Empire Productions crew even spent a few minutes in front of the mics and camera.

Oh, that's right. Did I mention we have a web cam in the studio so you can watch live? Right in the same media window that opens when you click to listen. And you can do that on Reality Radio or Bass Talk Radio, the companion web site to this Space. Also on the web site, you can click on "Peek In the Studio" on any page and go to the Today's Show to see pictures and grab links that go along with everything being discussed.

Then, of course, there's the music. A cut from TM's latest offering, Africans in the Snow, which was just STOOPID COOL!, as well as several tracks from Sean and Roy, even a mix from Lane's latest project with
Deeper Blues. Then there were the deep cuts Hayden found in his seemingly-endless vault of tracks. OK. . . there's the general picture. A bunch of friends hanging out, yakking it up about their lives and careers, listening to music and generally goofing around. And you get to listen in! How cool is that?

Remember, every Sunday, 6-10p.m. central time. Look, unless you've got a gig - and it could happen! - there's nothing better to do to warp up your weekend and get ready for another Monday. It's free, and it's as close as your computer. We'll see you there!

As always --

AIM HIGH. PLAY LOW!

Keep in touch.
